Trinity Methodist Church (TMC) is based in the centre of Blaydon opposite the new Upper Morrisons Car Park.
It is a relatively small congregation but is very friendly and caring with a passion for helping the local community. We have a large church upstairs (accessed from Lucy Street) and a large downstairs hall (accessed via Shibdon Road entrance) as well as a smaller Chapel Room (also accessed via Shibdon Road entrance).
TMC has a variety of worship services each month.
Sunday morning services are held at 10:45.
On the 2nd and 4th Sundays this is a more traditional style service which is usually held in our smaller chapel room downstairs.
On the 1st Sunday of the month we have an All Age service which includes craft activities for children and adults and a more interactive style of worship. We usually hold baptisms during this service.
On the 3rd Saturday of each month we hold our News @ Ten Cafe Service. This is a more informal service which is suitable for all ages and for people who have been coming to church for a long time or are simply looking for a way to explore the Christian faith. We begin at 10am with Tea, Filter coffee and bacon or sausage sandwiches while we chat and look through the days' newspapers. At 10:30 we explore a theme in a variety of ways depending on your learning style. Most people take the opportunity to be creative and engage with the craft which relates to the theme. The crafts can be accessed by children and adults. While making things there are some suggested questions which help us to explore the theme. We also have one table for folk who want to explore the theme simply by chatting and reflecting on questions. The service also includes interactive prayer. The service usually finishes about 11:20am.
TMC takes our call as disciples to support our local community very seriously and this is done in different ways and also in conjunction with other organisations.
Soup Lunch - Soup Lunch is held every Monday (except Bank Holidays) 12-1:30pm and provides a low cost homemade soup and roll as well as cake and refreshments. This is a good time to catch up with friends but also a place for those who need some company and to enjoy a hot meal.
Coffee Morning - On the 1st Saturday of each month we hold our regular coffee morning for the local community from 10 - 11:30am. This includes a variety of stalls, especially cakes! and we sell breakfast sandwiches too.
Foodbank - The Gateshead Foodbank has a distribution point at TMC on Friday afternoons and Wednesday mornings. This is run in conjunction with the Gateshead Foodbank and is run by volunteers.
Craft Club - Our Craft Club is hugely popular and is often full. It is held every Wednesday morning from 10-12pm and afternoons from 1-3pm.
Film Club - Our Film Club runs every two months from someone's home. This is a chance to eat food with others, watch a film and then have an informal chat about it.
Money Management Courses - From Summer 2015 we will be holding regular Money Management Courses to support local people in managing their money.
Ecumenical - Ecumenically we are involved with setting up Credit Union Collection Points in Blaydon as well as a Summer Holiday club for children in poverty among other things.
Community Lunch - This is held about 6 times a year. It is a free hot lunch for our church family, extended church family, friends and those who would be alone on Sunday lunchtimes and those who have accessed the Foodbank in the previous weeks. It is prepared by members of the congregation. For more information please contact Deacon Tracey Hume.
