Whitehall Road Methodist Church (Gateshead)

Whitehall Road Methodist Church

Introduction

Whitehall Road Methodist Church is located in the middle of the Bensham area of Gateshead, close to the town centre. Opened in 1896, we remain a worshipping community where people of all ages feel glad to celebrate God’s goodness together and discover the Good News that Jesus came to bring.

We seek to give God praise and glory, whilst providing an atmosphere of reverence and friendliness, and a place where the wider community can feel accepted as they are, and find welcome, hope and friendship.

We have our own website where you will find further information.

Worship

November 2020: services on 8th and 22nd AM only.

Usual arrangements:

Our Sunday morning service at 10:30 begins with all-age worship for the first part of the service, then the children and young people leave for their own activities in the Sunday Club. Our evening service commences at 6:00 on the last Sunday of the month.

Fellowship and Friendship

After each Sunday morning service, we offer complimentary drinks and biscuits, providing an opportunity to talk and catch up in an informal environment.
We hold a Messy Church on the first Saturday of every month, where we encourage children to explore bible stories creatively in a relaxed atmosphere, followed by a free sit-down lunch.
We have mixed and women's fellowship groups, covering a wide variety of social topies and interests, always accomplanied by refreshements and friendly chat.

Community

We have a large hall with a stage and adjoining rooms which are heavily used during the week by a variety of community groups, such as crafts, dance classes, charities, dog training and a radio club. We continue to be an active member and presence in Bensham.  Both the hall and church are easily accessible to disabled people.
