Our Calling - Questions for the Church in 2018

‘Do you have a growth plan or an end of life plan?’ This was the question posed to each and every church following last year’s Methodist Conference. It arises out of a desire to see the church fulfil its mission and to be faithful stewards of the resources that God has given us. In our Circuit we mirror much of what the wider connexion is facing, with some churches declining in membership and attendance year on year, some maintaining what they have and some seeing areas of growth and potential.

Poverty Truth Commission

The Methodist Church in the South West Tyneside Circuit have been exploring the possibility of establishing a Poverty Truth Commission for the West of Gateshead and we now have the majority of the funds needed to employ someone to work with us to help this become a reality.

Christmas Message

Luke 1.30-31 ‘The angel said to her. Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call him Jesus.’

Dear friends, Christmas is truly a magical time, a time of wonder and surprise, a time when the most amazing stories are told and we discover that some of them are actually real and, if we let them - life changing! You only have to have a child in the house at Christmas to see afresh the wonder of Christmas time.
